The garments made on-site have been in production for over 100 years, established by the Mackie family who’re still involved with the business today. In the beginning, staff would knit spun woolen yarn into coarse gauge ‘wheeling pants,’ traditionally used for men’s undergarments and socks. The factory in Galston has over 90 employees today, who make a variety of incredibly popular and well-made products. Men, women and children can now find unique jumpers and scarves, but there’s a seconds ‘rumble box’ which you can rummage through to find even more bargains.
